You can’t control the things that happen to you, but you can always control how you react. ✨⁣

As I have learned from being on the spiritual path, we have power over our emotional reactions. 

We have a conscious ability to rewire and shift our perspective at any moment. 

One of the first and most crucial steps in the art journaling process is starting where you are, expressing on paper your current state, anger, frustration, fears, whatever it is. 

Acknowledging how we are feeling at the moment without any judgment allows space to cultivate compassion. ⁣

Just like there’s no light without darkness and there’s no sun without rain, you must experience lows in order to experience highs. 

​​Expressing  your mess, your catharsis⁣ on paper, is a lot safer than getting it out on someone else, or turning it inward and acting out with self destructive patterns 

That’s the key to being able to transform your emotions and having more positive ones like calmness, mindfulness, and joy. ⁣

It's so important to do something every day that will make you happy. I guess I'm a little weird. I like to talk to trees and animals. That's okay though; I have more fun than most people. A beautiful little sunset. Decide where your cloud lives. Maybe he lives right in here. And I will hypnotize that just a little bit. We'll paint one happy little tree right here.
